Then Jesus said to his disciples,

"If anyone would come after me,  he must first deny himself and

take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life

will lose it, but whoever loses  his life for me will find it.

Soul Food

Why should we read the Bible everyday?  What does that have to do with us living God's Word?  As Christians we are each part of the Body of Christ.  Each of us need to do our part to continue to grow and stay in shape physically, emotionally, and of course spiritually, as we live in God's Word.

It's easy to tell those who work so hard on their physical and emotional health, but what about their spiritual health?  How do people work on that?

Most of us go to church on Sunday morning and evening, and even on Wednesday evenings.  We listen to Pastors and teachers read and teach from God's Word.  Many watch TV evangelists, preachers, and teachers read and teach from the Word.

Is that all we need?  No, brothers and sisters in Christ! It isn't!

After all, imagine how hungry you'd get if you only fed your body  physically on Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and maybe the occasional Wednesday evening.

Your body would quickly start starving.  Daily you would grow weaker and begin losing all energy and soon you would have to begin dropping all activities.

Your soul needs food and God's Holy Living Word is your Soul Food!

Daily we need to make sure our spiritual needs are met, so each and every part of the Body of Christ is strong, energized, and useful.  Only then can we truly "Live God's Word."

In Matthew 4:1-4 we read how Jesus was led into the desert by the Spirit to be tempted by the devil.  After fasting 40 days and nights, He was hungry (physically).  When tempted by the devil He proved He had still fed on the Word (Spiritually).  That's where He won His victory.

Matthew 4:4 - Jesus answered, "It is written:  Man does not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."

Prayer:  Lord, may we daily feed on, draw strength from, and live your Holy Word!!

Yours In Christ,

Brother Jay
