Then Jesus said to his disciples,

"If anyone would come after me,  he must first deny himself and

take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life

will lose it, but whoever loses  his life for me will find it.

He Has Risen!

Why are the three words, "He Has Risen," so powerful and

why do they provoke such a strong reaction in both believers

and non-believers alike?

The reason is the fact that not only was Jesus crucified but

on the third day He arose.  This fact is the central truth

and belief of the Christian faith.  Serving a "Risen Savior"

is what separates Christianity from all other religions.

1 Cor. 15:1-8

Jesus arising from the dead proved that He was the Son

of God as He claimed.  Romans 1:4 says "and through the

spirit of holiness was declared with power to to be the

Son of God by His resurrection from the dead Jesus

Christ our Lord."

Christ's resurrection also guarantees the completeness of

His redemptive work on the cross.

1 Cor. 15:12-15  But if it is preached that Christ has been

raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there

is no resurrection of the dead?  If there is no resurrection

of the dead then not even Christ had been raised, and if

Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and

so is your faith and if Christ has not been raised, your

faith is futile, you are still in your sins.

If Jesus did not arise from the dead to fulfill prophecy

then Jesus is just another man and Christianity is just

another dead religion.

Romans 6:4  We are therefore buried with Him through

baptism into death in order that just as Christ was

raised from the dead through the glory of the Father

we may live a new life.

Since Christ arose, we have promise of His presence

and power to overcome sin in our everyday life.

Experiencing His presence, power, glory, and anointing

deepens our love for Him and others.

Ephesians 1:18-20 states, "I pray also that the eyes of

your heart may be enlightened in order that you may be

the hope to which He has called you.  The riches of His

glorious inheritance in the saints and His incomparably

great power for us who believe that power is working of

His mighty strength, which He exerted in Christ when He

raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right

 hand in the heavenly realms."

The truth of Christ's resurrection is also the foundation

for His gift of the Holy Spirit and the supernatural life.

John 20:22  And with that He breathed on them and

 said, "Receive the Holy Spirit."

Romans 5:10  For if when we were God's enemies we

were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son.

Now how much more having been reconciled shall we

be saved through His life.

Psalms 16:10  Because You will not abandon me to the

grave, nor will You let Your Holy One see decay.

"Yes, He has risen from the dead!"

The fact that Jesus arose form the grave assures the

Christian believer of a "Heavenly Inheritance."

1 Peter 1:3,4   Praise be to the God and Father of our

Lord Jesus Christ.  In His great mercy He has given us

new birth into a living hope through the resurrection

of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that

can never perish, spoil or fade - kept in heaven for you.

It is proof that there is a judgment on the wicked, or

unbeliever.  Acts 17:39  In the past God overlooked

such ignorance, but now He commands all people

ever were to repent for He set a day He will judge

the world with justice by the man He has appointed

and has given proof of this to all men by raising

 Him from the dead.

Are you ready to meet the Risen, Living, Loving

Savior Jesus Christ?  None of us knows when our

appointed time will come.  Even as you read this

devotional your appointed time may come.  So

please, don't delay.

Come to Jesus just as you are.  He is waiting patiently

for you so go to Jesus and pray the prayer

of Repentance.

Consider the alternative.  If you are wrong about Jesus,

or your appointed time comes before you pray the prayer

of repentance, the consequence is eternal separation

from God and eternal damnation awaiting you.

Lord, I believe you are the Son of God and that you lived

a sinless life, that you were crucified as the perfect

sacrifice for our sins, and arose on the third day.  I

repent of my sins and ask you to be my Lord and Savior.

Guide and direct my life and help me live a life

pleasing to you.  In Jesus name.  Amen.

Yours in Christ,

Brother Jay
